Work Force Development and Retention Fall 2016

Work Force Development and Retention Committee, Fall 2016

National Conference 2016

Submitted by: Feilin Hsiao, Ph.D., MT-BC

The committee has identified three major tasks for 2017:

  1. Working with the national and local committees for the 2017 National Conference in St. Louis to develop a student track at the conference in order to foster interest in music therapy among high-school students. Efforts will include presentations at local high schools prior to the conference in order to raise awareness.
  2. Developing and distributing a survey to determine why music therapists decide to leave the profession.
  3. Identifying junior colleges within a 50-mile radius of approved music therapy programs in each region and exploring whether they offer introductory music therapy courses or music therapy tracks.
