Job Title:  Music Therapist Level I 

Hours:  24 hours per week – 4 weekdays 6 hour shifts (some flexibility)

Facility:  Primary Children’s Medical Center, Salt Lake City, Utah

Qualifications:  applicants must have at least a Bachelor’s degree in music therapy or a current professional designation or credential in music therapy (i.e. ACMT, CMT, RMT, or MT-BC).  The MT-BC credential must be obtained within 6 months of hire date.

Population:  Pediatric medical (may include NICU, TBI & Trauma, Rehabilitation, Hemotology/Oncology, PICU, Procedural assist, etc.)  Primary Children’s is a 271-bed teaching hospital.  We are a tertiary care facility and the only Level One Pediatric Trauma center in the five state intermountain area (WY, ID, UT, MT, NV).  We serve children from birth to adulthood and some adults with pediatric conditions. Primary Children’s Medical Center has been named one of the     nation’s top ten children’s hospitals.

Description of Position:  The Level I Music Therapist uses music and music experiences to elicit musical and extra-musical responses from patients to support progress toward treatment goals.  They utilize music therapy techniques to meet patients musically and clinically.    They participate in music therapy assessment, treatment, documentation, and evaluation as part of an overall treatment team.  They communicate empathy and establish therapeutic relationships with those they serve, and demonstrate understanding of ethical     principles and current AMTA Standards of Practice.  They also adhere       to the CBMT Scope of Practice.  Most sessions are 1:1 in-room; however they may also conduct groups.
